How big should my paddocks be?

The amount of land you have available and the needs of your horses will help you determine the size. Older horses that get regular exercise under saddle are probably the easiest to accommodate with a smaller paddock. This may be a run as wide as a stall (12’) and 20’ long. An area designed to allow more free exercise should be at least the size of a round pen or 20 meter circle, 50’ x 50’ or 60’ x 60’.
