Hogsfuel Outdoor Arena

"Hogsfuel" Outdoor Arena

In many parts of the country, the availability of large cedar chips, or "hogsfuel", allows an arena footing option other than sand or premanufactured footing. It is relatively inexpensive, but should only be made of cedar or an equally long lasting wood species. At some point down the road, it will need to be replaced due to decomposition. This is why only the most decay resistant type of wood should be used.
